Although there is continuing uncertainty surrounding Christchurch Council’s decision on the long term future of Place Mill, we are pleased to say that we have been invited back for the residency for 2018, so will be opening Friday March 30th until Sunday 30th September. Being able to keep the doors open and maintaining free entry, it runs very well both as a gallery, studio and a place of historic interest, thus appealing to those with varied interests.
So many people have enjoyed Cherie’s paintings, prints, table mats, coasters and cards and it gives added value to the local community and to those from further afield whilst Christchurch Council has the mill overseen by us on a daily basis, with the wheel being run whenever river conditions and tides allow. Sadly the wheel can’t be run at the moment as one of the paddle struts has perished and the wheel is therefore unstable and may cause unnecessary vibration to the structure of the building itself. Hopefully this will be repaired over a period of time
